Goodbye Tonsils!

We just got home from the hospital. Mckenzie & Matthew had to get their tonsils out today! They have been excited about this day since last week. When we got to the hospital, they just played and laughed.
Mckenzie's surgery was first. So when we got back in the room she got her vitals checked and changed into her gown. Then they gave her this amnesia medicine that makes you so loopy. She was hilarious! about 5 minutes after they gave her the medicine she started giggling at everything. She kept taking pictures with my phone and laughing. When the anaesthesiologist came in she even took pictures of him.
Mckenzie climbed right into the wagon and the anaesthesiologist wheeled her away and they told a story on the way down the hall about a princess and a kitty. The doctor came in after the surgery and said she did really well. She fell right asleep and they were done in 20 minutes.
Just before the doctor came in to talk to us about Mckenzie, they got Matthew's vitals and changed him and gave him his "loopy" medicine. We couldn't tell as easy on him if it was working because Matthew is already a funny (loopy) boy! I asked him if he could see 2 of me and he said no, then he started crossing his eyes and saying there's 2 of everything! So I could tell it had taken effect because he started getting giggles too while crossing his eyes.
Matthew did the same as Mckenzie and jumped right in the wagon before the anaesthesiologist had a chance to check his heart! He was ready to go. So unsuspecting! After they took him back we were taken to a recovery room and waited for them to bring us Mckenzie.
When they brought her in, she was screaming. They told us it was normal, but it was so sad. She kept crying "I want to go home". It's sad because they said that kids act like this because they can't process the effect of the anaesthesia the way an adult can, so they don't understand why they don't know where they are. She finally calmed down and the shot the doctor gave her after surgery kicked in and she fell asleep.
Matthew took a little longer to come out of the anaesthesia. When they brought him in, he just kept wanting to sleep. So he did awesome, until we got to the car and he threw up all over the curb. Then on the way home he threw up some more. Now they are home and doing good, just relaxing. Hopefully now they will sleep better at night.

The joke of Gateway

So I just have to say that I shouldn't try to leave my house with 4 kids. I don't know what the difference between 3 kids to 4 kids is, but there is a significant difference!! We went to the Gateway Mall today with Alyssa's girl scout troop to do build-a-bear and play in the fountains. I didn't have a babysitter, so of course I had to take all my kids with me. So I had my 4 plus helping watch 8 other girls. This is Mckenzie at the end of the fountains wanting to go home.
We go to build-a-bear first and Matthew and Mckenzie actually behaved very well, I was proud of them. Then we went and got drinks for everyone (it was SO hot). This picture is of Alyssa at the end after she was hit in the neck with a jet of water. (drama)
Matthew was the one not crying and having a good ole' time in the fountains. So after we get drinks everyone splits up. Danette (the leader) with 5 of the girls to take their bears to the car and get towels. Karla (the mom who came with us) with her 2 girls to get their things from their car. And me. I had everything. So now I am alone with all 4 of my kids in a busy shopping center!
Carson was in good spirits too. I am trying to find the way to the ground floor. I go to these elevators that look like they only go to the parking garages. I ask a lady where they go who tells me what I was thinking. I ask her how I get down to the main level, she points me in the direction of the escalators (mind you I have a huge stroller). I think maybe there is a elevator over there.
So I get over to the escalators, of course there is no elevator over there. By this time my kids are losing attention, I am not going to walk around the whole place to find an elevator. So I tell Alyssa to go in front of me to hold the front of the stroller and I will hold the back so we can go down the escalator. She starts freaking out and keeps putting her foot on the escalator and taking it off, (she is scared of escalators, I remember this after she is already making a scene) she gets on and is now on her way down before she could hold on to the stroller, I am saying "Alyssa grab the stroller!" she is already to far to reach and tries to come back up but it is obviously moving, and she trips and hits her knee!
She starts SCREAMING! and sits on the stair as it continues down. So Mckenzie sees that she is sitting and thinks that is how you go down so she sits and is now heading down, I am yelling "STAND UP MCKENZIE!!" thinking she is going to get pinched at the bottom if she doesn't hurry up. I can't leave my baby at the top and run after them! People are staring at me like I am a joke and not helping. A security guard finally comes and asks if he can help (Yeah that would be nice!) he goes down and gets my girls (Matthew is walking up & down the middle regular stairs)
I get the stroller down and the guy says Alyssa is bleeding pretty good and he can't bandage her but can give me stuff. Alyssa is Screaming even more because she is bleeding all over (any of you that know Alyssa know that she is a DRAMA QUEEN!) Then the security guard tells me he has to file a report because she got hurt on "Gateway" property. Can anything else happen?!
So Danette is waiting for me this whole time over at the fountains and has no clue where we are or why we are taking so long. We finally get over there and explain everything.
The kids did have a lot of fun once we got over to the fountains. I just need to keep myself locked up in my house until school starts!!

Here is Alyssa after she got bandaged up and went through the water a little.
Here is her "gash" from the escalator. It was bleeding and looked a lot worse that that when it happened. The picture doesn't do much justice.

Maybe we could try this again someday!! When they are all older!

Am I insane?!

Matthew's birthday was this past week and we had a birthday party. Sound like fun! Matthew decided he wanted to have dinner, play water games & watch Transformers. I thought, sounds great. So in my planning, I am trying to figure out how much time we will need. I decided to do the party from 5pm to 9pm. (yeah, you read the time correctly). We bought invatations that had 8 in the pack, so I let him invite 8 friends. (yes you are adding the math correctly) Add it all up and we have a party of 9 6 year old boys for 4 hours! Yeah! I am taking my finger to my lips bubububububu!!!!! What the heck was I thinking!
We started with dinner (5:15), all the boys were excited and loud, then we went outside for water fun (5:30), that was fine, they had a water balloon fight, went down the slip'n'slide, and swam in the pool until they were ready to be done (6:15). Then they did presents (6:30), after that we sang happy birthday and had cake while all 8 of the boy preceeded to sing "happy birthday to you, you live in a zoo, you look like a monkey, and you smell like one too!" repeated 20 times at the top of thier cute little lungs. this went untill about 8pm when I finally called all the parents to tell them I was crazy for having a 4 hour party and had them all come to get them.
I felt bad for ending early, but I couldn't do it anymore! The good part is they all had fun and that's what matters!

Ok! So I finally decided to try out this blogging stuff. I have seen a few friends blogs and they are super cute! I thought I would try it out so that friends and family can keep up with our kids growth and all the stuff they might miss. Since I am so new to this, it is going to take me a little bit to get the page how I would like it, but I am up for the challenge, Bring it on!!!!
